Maple Hill Boys (Mickey & Slim)

Aside written by Larry Vincent and Mickey Barner.  Unsure if it's them singing, but it probably is.

Jenks "Tex" Carman

I am happy to share this rip from my own 78rpm.  It seems the Aside was missed by the folks who assembled cd box sets.  So here it is.  One of my very favorite performers.  A true original.

Really worth watching:

Ron Fraze

This one is funny because the ebay seller (who also has a youtube channel) listed this at $4 with the description "Awful Country".  That amused me while at the same time made me curious, like a little kid with earwax on his finger.  I don't think it's too bad, do you?  I've heard worse music.

I believe this label is a sister (or inbred cousin?) to Nabor Records.

Billy Folger (3rd post revised with new cleaned tracks)

Billy's real name was Cecil Smith

In the 1970s there was a country music industry publication called "Countryside".  It's original name was Upper Midwest Country & Western News Scene.  Last month Sherwin Linton had a garage sale and I bought all his copies of that publication.  I scanned a good deal of the articles, one about Billy Folger.  I have included the pdf in the download folder, for your reading pleasure.

(note: the tracks I originally posted have been replaced by new ones, cleaned by Hank The Smoker.  Thanks Hank!)

Couldn't remove the warped sound in the first :30 of the aside.  I can't see any imperfections in the vinyl that would slow down the needle.  It might be in the recording or mastering process.

In the deadwax is etched: Rimrock 841, which makes me think this is probably from Arkansas.
