Smiley Burnette

Some needed humor to get us through the hard times. I love the penny-whistle, on any recording.

"When A Man Crossed Powder River, There Was No Bridge Back", so reads the newspaper add for "Powder River", the movie "Ten Gallon Hat" came from.

I looked up "Powder River in a newspaper data base (it was released in 53'), read a few of the reviews and found them mixed. I suppose any western that features a gunslinger with a brain tumor is bound to get mixed reviews (too bad they didn't feature a song about that!) It seems the best part of the movie was the rich Techicolor and beautiful scenery. Based on "Ten Gallon Hat" I think the music would have to be included too.
